Browsing the catalog

Finding operating systems and tools in BootForge's curated catalog — search, filters, sort, and item details.

The Catalog tab is a curated directory of bootable operating systems and tools: Linux distributions, rescue and repair tools, disk utilities, memory testers, and more. Each entry links to its official source, so you always know where an image comes from.

Finding something

  • Search — tap the search icon and type an OS, tool, or task (“rescue”, “partition”, “ubuntu”…).
  • Featured — a highlighted carousel of popular, dependable picks.
  • Browse by category — Linux, Windows, Rescue, Disk, Memory, Security, Utility.

Filters and sort

Open Filters to narrow the list by:

  • Category — the type of image.
  • Task — install an OS, try a live OS, repair boot, recover files, clone a disk, partition a disk, test memory, build a multi-boot USB, run a security audit.
  • Difficulty — Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced.
  • Availability — for example, entries that support in-app download.

The filter button shows how many filters are active, and Reset clears them. The result count (“12 of 97”) updates as you filter. Sort lets you order by relevance, popularity, name, score, or difficulty, ascending or descending.

Pressing back once with an active search or filter clears it and returns to the main catalog view; pressing back again leaves the Catalog.

The item detail page

Tapping an entry opens its detail page with:

  • a description and brand logo;
  • a Details card — publisher, version, architecture, boot modes (UEFI/BIOS/Secure Boot), audience, and license type;
  • Editions, where a project ships more than one (e.g. Desktop vs Server);
  • Links — the project Homepage and Documentation;
  • an Official source marker and any trademark/license notices.

Getting the image

How you actually obtain the ISO depends on the entry and whether you have Pro — see Adding ISO images. In short: everyone can open the publisher’s official page and download in a browser; Pro adds one-tap, checksum-verified in-app downloads.

BootForge links you to each publisher’s official site and does not host or modify their images. You accept the publisher’s license terms on their site.
