Maintain a drive
Known drives
How BootForge remembers drives it has prepared, and how to rename or forget them.
When BootForge prepares a drive, it remembers it — so the next time you connect that drive it’s recognised instantly, with its name and history.
Where to find them
Open Tools → Known drives for the list of USB drives BootForge has prepared and remembered. Each entry shows:
- the drive’s name (custom or default);
- whether it’s Connected right now, or when it was last seen;
- its Ventoy version and how many images it holds.
Renaming a drive (Pro)
Give a drive a friendly name so you can tell your drives apart. Rename it from:
- Known drives → ⋮ → Rename, or
- the Home drive card’s ⋮ → Edit name.
Leave the name empty to remove a custom name and fall back to the default. Renaming is a Pro feature; remembering and displaying drives is free.
Forgetting a drive
Use ⋮ → Forget to drop a drive from the remembered list. This only removes BootForge’s record of it — it does not erase the drive or change its contents. If you connect it again later, BootForge will simply recognise it as a Ventoy drive and can remember it anew.
